Peťo

React Developer

Our employee Peťo is a unique React Developer. His story shows us that you should never give up on your dreams. He has been interested in technology since he was a little boy. Read the article to find out more about this guy that overcomes challenges and broadens his horizons gradually.

What was your journey to IT like?

Since I was young, I have been interested in IT. It all started by dismantling remote-control toy cars, radios, and various electronics. Later, I started repairing computers and laptops. It was clear to me which way I was going to go. Therefore, I started to study at Secondary School of Electrical Engineering in Prešov where I discovered different departments of IT.

What was your journey to Unique People like and when did you start working here?

After (untimely) finishing my studies at university, I started to look for my first job. Amongst all the job offers, one company with clear vision appealed to me the most. After I went through several interviews, my unique job started in March 2019.

What do you like the most about Unique People?

The possibility to work with a great team on modern premises with high-end technologies. What makes me happy the most is the infinite number of cookies in the kitchen.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on a project for Slovak health insurance company. More transparent and effective internal attendance system will be the resulting product. To develop the Front-End part, we use React that is connected to the internal design system. We store mainly atomic React components within the internal library (design system). To store the states of application in a more complex way, we use Redux and to manage different versions of code, we use Git.

What is the most interesting thing you have worked on here at Unique People?

Personally, I consider the migration of devices for an Austrian client to be the biggest challenge. As every project, many technical difficulties came up in addition to the need to overcome language barriers. Eventually, everything went well, I got plenty of experience and only nice and joyous memories remained in my mind.

Do you have any IT related dreams?

In the near future, I would like to broaden my horizons with different technologies. Flutter is one of them and I have been toying with the idea of developing my first mobile app for a while. In a far future, I would like to participate on some global project that would be helpful in bringing us a better future.

How do you see the future of IT?

Telling the future of IT is not simple, since this sector is unbelievably progressive, but the development of the artificial intelligence, virtual data visualization (virtual reality, holograms, ...) robotization and automatization will be useful for several sectors. New threats come into existence with the development of new technologies. Therefore, the requirements for security will grow faster than the prices of fuel.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career?

What I consider to be the highlight of my career is every web application that surpasses the expectations of the client, either technically or visually.

"There is inspiration everywhere, you just need to look around."

Who or what inspires you?

There is inspiration everywhere, you just need to look around.

Tell us something interesting about yourself. What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I do various activities. Sports activities are what I love the most. In winter, I used to snowboard or to play hockey, but in summer I prefer ball games and swimming. Recently, I have actively started running, however, I still enjoy a game of chess more. Besides sports, I am able to relax with cars, motorcycles or karts. The smell of gas, burnt tires, and a lot of emotions. I know it was a good Sunday when the Formula 1 race was on TV. Besides the mentioned activities, I like to watch a series in the evening or to play a game.

Our unique 2022
The year 2022 brought us new challenges that led us to the opening of the new branch in Split, expansion into new premises in Košice, establishment of new partnerships and to the acquisition of new projects. These brought new challenges in the form of large and interesting, but often demanding projects which tested our perseverance and ingenuity. Our international team grew by 40 members, we attended 3 weddings of our employees and many conferences, events, and workshops, among which were, for example, Qubit, Profesia Days or Dump Days in Croatia. Let's see what we experienced during each month.

1st anniversary of Unique People in Croatia
Our Unique People family was founded 10 years ago in Košice, Slovakia and the idea of opening an office in Split emerged almost 4 years ago. However, because of the Covid pandemic we had to wait to make it real. The dream came true in 2021 and the branch office was established on December 8. We started with small steps and we successfully grew to have 18 Croatian colleagues in a year. We are so delighted about the progress we've made! In the following lines, you will be able to find some insights, thoughts of the company’s leadership, particular data relating to our progress, as well as visions for the future – so stay with us and get inspired!
