Full Stack developer

Majo has been passionate for IT since his early childhood. Despite the fact that he likes his job, he said that he never sacrificed all of his time to work. Football, beer, gardening and his family may be considered his hobbies. Keep reading and you will get to know our developer.

What was your journey to IT like?

Logic-oriented school subjects always suited me. Even in the subjects of human sciences I always tried to find a way how to use an algorithm or something else from logics to make my life easier. Therefore, the combination of this and my love for computers made my career path crystal clear.

What was your journey to Unique People like and when did you start working here?

I don’t remember the exact date, it’s difficult to identify it. External cooperation started when I worked for Codexa in the second half of 2017. When I left Codexa, I started to work for ProUP that later became part of Unique People. Before that, I was employed at RWE IT Slovakia, where I worked in R&D department for RWE Supply & Trading GmbH. I started to work as a developer at M-Way Solutions and afterwards at Senacor Technologies.

What do you like the most about Unique People?

I like the job. However, it’s difficult for me to be the judge of that, since I work on a project for our client all the time, so I cannot say what working at Unique People is like. The cooperation with the girls from the HR department is something I can state an opinion on, though. We cooperate when it comes to interviews with candidates for experts in Java. The reason is that my professional experience is related mostly to Java. If I were supposed to grade my cooperation with the HR department, I would definitely give them an A. They are great, moreover, it is a positive experience for me, since being on the other side of the interview table is new for me.

What are you currently working on?

I am working on an internal development project for a client. We develop an application for the process administration at the company. Implementation and system administration make up the main scope of the work. Eventually, I became a technical leader of the team and the person responsible for the training and guidance of junior colleagues who are put into the team from time to time, so they may start off somewhere. The project itself is not rocket science, but we started it from scratch, which was a new experience for me. We work in a team as Full Stack developers, so it is ideal for those who don’t have a problem to do Front End and Back End. We use Java and Spring for Back End and Angular for Front End.

What is the most interesting thing you worked on here at Unique People?

Since I have worked only in one project at Unique People, the answer to this question is above.

"Naturally, if someone feels uneasy at work or wants to do something different, they should act and not just settle."

Do you have any IT related dreams?

Not really, I am not one of those IT guys that sacrifice all of their time to work. Experience taught me that there is no ideal technology, ideal team or an ideal job. There are good and bad things everywhere, things that help you grow or slow you down. Naturally, if someone feels uneasy at work or wants to do something different, they should act and not just settle. Therefore, I do not dream of anything particular, I just enjoy learning and trying new things from any field. I can’t stand boredom, so my dream is not to be bored.

How do you see the future of IT?

Anything is possible, we are basically a part of another industrial revolution that brings IT into all kinds of things more and more.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career?

Probably the fact that I travelled to Germany often due to my job. Therefore, I improved in English quite much, and I got better in German a bit, as well. I am a person who couldn´t learn the language well within our school system, so this experience gave me the most for my career.

Who or what inspires you?

People who try to succeed by diligence without any short cuts like nepotism, bribes, chattering, etc.

Tell us something interesting about yourself. What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?

I have a lot of interests, as I have already said, I can´t stand boredom. I manage and train a football club in our village. I play football from time to time, although it has gotten harder and harder due to gravity in the past years. I enjoy organizing social events (I like participating, as well). Hanging around my garden and the subsequent well-deserved reward in the form of beer has positive effects on me. Currently, building a family house keeps me busy, so I have learned something in that field too. And, last but not least, I raise two sons and a baby girl, which teaches me new lessons as well :)

Our unique 2022
The year 2022 brought us new challenges that led us to the opening of the new branch in Split, expansion into new premises in Košice, establishment of new partnerships and to the acquisition of new projects. These brought new challenges in the form of large and interesting, but often demanding projects which tested our perseverance and ingenuity. Our international team grew by 40 members, we attended 3 weddings of our employees and many conferences, events, and workshops, among which were, for example, Qubit, Profesia Days or Dump Days in Croatia. Let's see what we experienced during each month.

1st anniversary of Unique People in Croatia
Our Unique People family was founded 10 years ago in Košice, Slovakia and the idea of opening an office in Split emerged almost 4 years ago. However, because of the Covid pandemic we had to wait to make it real. The dream came true in 2021 and the branch office was established on December 8. We started with small steps and we successfully grew to have 18 Croatian colleagues in a year. We are so delighted about the progress we've made! In the following lines, you will be able to find some insights, thoughts of the company’s leadership, particular data relating to our progress, as well as visions for the future – so stay with us and get inspired!
